I have wanted to strangle the nurses at the pediatric office that we take Robby to the last couple of days. He had been diagnosed with croup on Wednesday, put on steroids and was only getting worse. Thursday is when the fever began and he can barely breath while sleeping not to mention coughing to the point of almost throwing up. I was on the phone with the nurses trying to explain that the steroids were not working and something wasn't right and we probably needed antibiotics. I was continually told that there is nothing to do for croup except hot steamy rooms, corn syrup for his throat and humidifiers. They acted like I was a crazed mom demanding antibiotics and told me the doctor was concerned about them causing diarhea and antibiotic resistance. I finally just said that I wanted to be seen again. I was so nervous going in because I had been calling for two days with no answers and I was sure that the doctor was just going to tell us the same stuff and think I was just a bossy mom.
Well I left feeling very vindicated. Robby has double full blown ear infections plus a sinus infection on top of the croup. They gave him a shot of heavy duty antibiotics at the office and we will pick up the prescription for the rest of the week later. Boy did I feel so much better knowing that I wasn't crazy and now we are on the path to fixing it. The doctor even said he was thinking about it all night wondering why he was getting worse and he was really glad that I demanded to be seen because mom always knows best.
On top of all of this we leave on our cruise on next Sunday the 14th so I didn't want to take a sick child on the plane and ship. Hopefully the antibiotics work and he starts feeling better soon. I hate seeing my little boy sick. I wanted to find the nurse that kept putting me off on the phone and acting like I was crazy and just give her a little smile.(and maybe a few choice words)

I just saved a bunch of money...
You heard me correctly...Oregon State just saved me a bunch of money on a road trip to Pasadena by losing the Civil War. I guess that is one way of looking at it right? Sadly I just cancelled my reservations at the Best Western in Pasadena. Maybe next year right...or maybe within the next 44 years at least!

Civil War Prep
Oregon State and Oregon have their rival game tomorrow. We are getting geared up for the big day. It should be a fun one. I made some cookies and some veggie pizza (color sorted of course). Thanks for the recipe Tiff:) Now I'm off to get some much needed sleep since I have a cold that has been holding on for waaaayyyy too long. GO BEAVS!

Happy Anniversary to Us!
Rob and I are off to the beach tomorrow! It is our 5th anniversary on Saturday. Robby is going to stay home with G&G Thorn. We have gone back and forth all week on whether to take him or not, but I know they will have a great time together. I miss him already.
It has been a long week at work. I think every week seems like a long week actually. For those of you who don't know I am a dental hygienist. Lately I have really been having some difficult personalities to "entertain." Let me tell you with the economy, certain procedure anxieties or political issues it has been a hard past few weeks. There are some strong personalities out there. I like it though...if everyone was the same my job would be pretty boring. Every hour is different and every mouth for that matter. If I wasn't challenged at some point what fun would that be? Plus it gives me some great stories to tell...names omitted of course.
For my patients who read my blog...I know who each and every one of you are...you are not considered difficult. I wouldn't give you my personal blog info if I felt that way:)
I work in what I consider an awesome work environment. We have a great team. I work for a young dentist who is as cool as a dentist can be...just kidding Tony. He knows Rob well from playing on a softball team with him for the past 3 years. He has young kids himself so he can totally relate with me. His assistant Nikki is the best. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her at work. We go to lunch everyday. Gotta love the dollar menu. Let's not forget Patty. Patty is our office manager. She keeps us all busy and knows the answer to any question you may have. Luckily we have pts to keep us on track or the 4 of us could chat all day long about nothing...like I said, "We have a great team!" I consider myself very lucky. I will be celebrating my 4th year of working there come January, and I look forward to many more years to come.
I'm trying my hand at uploading videos...this is an old one from March of Robby eating. Ignore my voice please... I think we were watching Big Brother. Have a good weekend!

Rob and Jesse's birthday party (out of order)
The Birthday boys.
Grandma and silly Robby.
Cute Addison.
Ready to ride the cow.
Buckin' Bronco
Love this picture of Addison cheering him on. They sure had fun taking turns being bucked off.
I love footy jams on kids. I wish they were socially acceptable for adults. Wouldn't a footy pajama party be fun?

OSU vs. WSU (past due)
Grandpa and Grandma...can you tell by the nearly empty parking lot how early we get there:)
Ryan and Jacob...Rob has known Ryan since kindergarten. So nice to have such good old friends. Jacob couldn't wait to see the band and cheerleaders. Too cute.
Rob's good friend Erik Fischer and Josh Henry. We are glad to have you close Fisch. Missed you in Cincinnati!
Worn out...
Cute smiling Jackson!
